School closure update

Mitchell County Schools/Baconton Community Charter Schools will observe the following schedule: Faculty/Staff will report to work on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. If there are issues or concerns that may prevent employees from returning to work, please contact your supervisor. Students will return on Monday, October 22, 2018.

MCSS Students and Employees Return on Monday-October 22

Mitchell County School System's students and employees will return on Monday, October 22. As of Saturday-October 20, Mitchell County Elementary School had no power; therefore, on Monday, the elementary school students/faculty will report to Mitchell County High School.

Schools closed October 12

MCSS schools will be closed October 12, 2018.

Schools Closed

The Mitchell County School System (includes all dual enrollment students)/Baconton Community Charter School will be closed on Wednesday, October 10, and Thursday, October 11, due to inclement weather conditions. We will resume regular school hours on Friday, October 12.

A nationwide test of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS)-October 3

Reminder: On Wednesday, October 3, beginning at 2:18 p.m. Eastern Time, FEMA and the FCC will conduct a nationwide test of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS). The Wireless Emergency Alert portion of the test starts at 2:18 p.m. and the Emergency Alert System follows at 2:20 p.m. The test messages will start with “THIS IS A TEST” and end with “No action is needed.
