Principal's Message

Welcome Mitchell County Middle School families to a new school year!

I hope this letter finds you all well and refreshed from your summer and ready to tackle another year! Myself, and our dedicated staff, are anxiously awaiting your return on August 1, 2022.  I personally can’t wait to hear the numerous stories about the many adventures our students have had during their summer break.

As we prepare for this upcoming year, I can’t help but to reflect back on recent years and the term “resiliency” keeps coming to my mind. Often times in good ole’ South Georgia we refer to this term as “grit”. Our educational system was rocked in early 2020 with a global pandemic, however, last school term I began to see the “grit” within our educational community. Students, teachers, leaders, parents, and staff, began to dig in their heels with the mindset that we are going to move forward as was evidenced by the growth on our Milestone’s scores.

This year is going to be amazing as we continue this push forward by providing academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while creating real-world connections. We want to enhance those efforts by supporting and developing staff in core content areas, addressing mental health concerns of students, and initiating improved school safety procedures.

I truly consider it an honor to work with you and your students. We cannot do the work we do without you and we look forward to strengthening our school/home partnership with each of you throughout this school term.

 Educationally yours,

Rodney Conine, Principal
